Franz von Zülow

* 15. 3. 1883 Vienna, † 27. 2. 1963 Vienna. Painter, graphic artist and inventor of paper-cut stencil printing. Created as of 1908 illustrations and drafts for the Viennese workshops; 1920/21 instructor at the Schleiß Ceramic Workshop in Gmunden, Upper Austria; from 1949 at the Arts and Crafts School in Linz; from 1955 president of the Mühlviertler Artist’s Guild. Designed porcelain decorations, fabric and furniture paintings; as of 1925 also created oil paintings (landscapes, still lifes, figure portraits) and frescos. After 1945 numerous public commissions for wall paintings and mosaics.
